Analysis of the Movie Do the Right Thing by Spike Lee :: Do the Right Thing Spike Lee Racism Essays

Analysis of the Movie Do the Right issue by arbor Lee The movie, Do the Right Thing, by Spike Lee is a unwaveringlyhitting drama that deals with violence and racialism in todayssociety. This film is set in a primarily dismal neighborhood inclose to the present beat. Right in the warmheartedness of thisneighborhood stands a pizza parlor that is possessed andoperated by wiz of the well-nigh important characters in themovie, Sal. In the beginning of the movie, Sal is shownarriving to work with his devil sons Pino and Vito. This givesan appeal to Sal as a family man. Right from the start Sal isportrayed as a hard working, kind, and devoted individual.Just the concomitant that he owns his own business in these roughand tough times shows that he is a smart, efficient, anddedicated man. Later in the movie we learn that Sal did infact build his pizzeria by himself from the ground up, brickby brick, board by board which was no little task indeed. The fact that Sal gets to share his foundation and hard workwith his sons makes it all the more special to him. After Salhas stainless his pre-opening preparations Sals Pizzeria isopen for the day. Shortly after this, the main character ofthe movie, Mookie, comes strolling into the restaurant.Mookie plant as the delivery man for Sal in this movie.Mookie literally delivers pizza, yes, but he also acts as amediator between the two races. Sal relies on Mookie notonly to get the pizzas delivered, but to also keep his fellow travelerblack folks happy with Sal so they will come and deignhis restaurant. I think that this shows a very interesting sideof Sal. It for the most part pawns him off as a racist. On theone knock over he can put on a happy nerve and greet all the blackpeople as they shell their hard earned money out to him forhis pizza, while on the other flip over he turns into a bigot, hating most black people and talking slowly their backwhile they are not around. Now I read most black peoplebecause Sal se ems to have this father-son bond going onbetween him and Mookie where Sal is the white father andMookie the black son who in the finish finally rebels like allsiblings do at some time in their life. Also Sal seems to havesome kind of affection or love for Mookies sister, Jade. When she enters the pizza parlor Sal insists, if not begs to
